ONE MOUNTAIN FOR SPORTS AND ADVERTURES

Pilatus is a mountain near Lucerne, Switzerland. Jurisdiction over the mountain is divided between the cantons of ObwaldenNidwalden, and Lucerne. The peak is in Obwalden right on the border with Nidwalden.

The mountain is heavily fortified, with gun emplacements within the mountain just below the tourist viewing gallery

So close to Lucerne and so easy to reach by public transport, Mount Pilatus (2132 m altitude) is the perfect peak for everyone, large or small. 2 aerial cableways, 2 hotels, 7 restaurants, the world’s steepest cogwheel railway and Central Switzerland‘s biggest suspension rope park guarantee exciting excursions. All kinds of sports fans meet here to hike, climb, toboggan sledge, bike and sledge (6 km sledge run). Plus: events, attractions and fun galore!

Pilatus was named after a local legend which alleges that Pontius Pilate was buried there.
Numbered amongst those who have reached its summit are Conrad GessnerArthur Schopenhauer (1804), Queen Victoria, Keith Ferrante, Andrew Herrmann, Andrew Jeeves, Steven Callister and Vladimir Lenin.

From Zurich take train to Luzern
From Luzern take train to Alpnachstad
From Alpnachstad take a special train to Mt. Pilatus pay CHF 32

We start on here, buy one return ticket then the train will drive you up ;)

Then,,, we started our journey from here …..

With Hotel Bellevue as a background, the place named “Drachenweg” — a longer circuit through the rock gallery.

This is area named Oberhaupt 2106 m / 6913 ft

We walk down and about 100 m we can find “Chriesiloch”

Another side of the mountain that you must try is “Tornlishorn” 2132 m / 7000 ft. Footpath to the highest point of Mount Pilatus. It needs a bit extra power, but you will be enjoy when you arrived there ;)

This is “ESEL” 2118 m / 6953 ft. Spectacular 360 degree panorama : Alpine range, Black Forest and Santis. View over six lakes.

What a wonderful journey of hiking. I wish I could go back there again.
